What I did this week

This week I was editing my documentary. I went on Monday and Tuesday and managed to cut down the answers of the questions I wanted to include as well as roughly order them in the multitrack and then export it as a draft so Antje could have a listen to it. The fact that I changed my radio station had also been brought up in our meeting. I will now be doing my documentary for Radio 4 Beyond Today podcast instead of my original one called ''Can humans change'' because after doing some research I found out that this podcast was never aired.

I also had my second meeting with my supervisor and that was good because it helped me to think more about the next steps, I will be taking in order to reach my deadline. Additionally, she told me to think more about my narrative and how my audience would hear my story which was very helpful because that perspective made me think about my script from a different angle.

It was a good decision to start editing on Audition because compared to Audacity I feel like I am more confident on it.

What didn’t go well

Firstly, I was struggling to cut down my interviews because they were each an hour long. Secondly, the interview with Dr Himanshu as well as Angela’s were challenging because there was a lot of good content and I did not know which to keep. Even if I made a plan on which questions to extract and include from each one of them I ended up with more.

To add on, when finishing my draft multitrack I was scared because even if it was just small bits that I have put together for the first just to get a plan it was thirty-two minutes which is very long. I still need to cut down a lot more and add music, presenter links and background sounds.

Lastly, for my supervisor meeting I sent my road map a bit too late and it was not as detailed because it only included the most important quotes for each interviewee so Antje did not have that much time to see my progress, but I still told her what I have been working on until now.

What are my future plans

• Keep on editing and cut down unnecessary clips

• Keep working on my wix website – reflect about the interviews with Angela and Lucinda

• Write my presenter links and improve my script

• Add additional sounds /sound effects
